As the second quarter of 2024 comes to a close, we've observed some interesting trends in the Music and Podcasts category for Android apps in the US. The data, sourced from Sensor Tower, offers a snapshot of how the top apps in this segment have fared in terms of downloads, revenue, and weekly active users.

Spotify: Music and Podcasts maintained a strong performance with notable fluctuations in revenue, peaking at nearly $9.8M in early May before dipping to around $7.6M towards the end of June. Downloads remained fairly steady with a slight uptick to around 2.7K in late June, while weekly active users showed a gradual decrease from 430K to 435K over the quarter.

Deezer: Music & Podcast Player showed a modest revenue trend starting at just under $600K and making a peak to $717K mid-May. Downloads had a peak at 142K in mid-April, with active users seeing a slight increase from 2.2K to 2.3K in early June before a minor drop later that month.

Apple Music experienced revenue ranging from $349K to a high of $511K in the second week of April. Downloads for Apple Music demonstrated some volatility but ended the quarter with a rise to 577K. Weekly active users had a dip in late May to 15.7K but recovered to 16.4K by the end of June.

TIDAL Music: HiFi sound saw its revenue climb steadily over the quarter, starting at $48K and reaching a high of $194K in mid-June. Downloads for TIDAL peaked early in the quarter at 201K but later dropped to 84K. Weekly active users peaked at 5.3K in early April but saw a decline to 3.8K by the quarter's end.

TuneIn Radio: Music & Sports had a fluctuating revenue pattern, peaking at $68K in late May. Downloads showed variability but ended on a high note with 60K in late June. Active users hit a high of 1K in mid-April, with some fluctuation, ending slightly lower at 894 by the quarter's end.
